Training camp is when the optimism starts to build for fans and players, but it is also a stressful time for players, especially the youngsters. Week after week, these players will have to prove themselves not just in camp, but in the preseason. For the Detroit Lions, there will be no exceptions as plenty of good players are on the bubble. These five Detroit Lions players are on the outside looking in right now.

The most disappointing starter in the past three seasons according to Pro Football Focus (minus 12.3), Kris Durham has gone from the No. 2 receiver in 2013 to battling for one of the final receiver positions in 2014. Durham had a poor 2013 campaign and is not making any significant steps forward so far this offseason. Being Matthew Stafford's college roommate helped him when Jim Schwartz was the coach, but it won't help him now.

Patrick Edwards started two games last season and produced just five catches in the entire campaign. With the depth of receivers like Ryan Broyles, TJ Jones and Jeremy Ross battling for the final receiver spots, Edwards is on the outside looking in.

Jim Caldwell has rarely kept three quarterbacks on the roster, and the quarterback most likely to get the axe is Kellen Moore. Moore has struggled so far this offseason, missing open receivers, and the coaching staff that took a chance of him a few years ago is now gone. The lack of a strong arm has hurt Moore so far in his young NFL career and will continue to hurt him down the road.

With all of the uncertainty at cornerback this offseason, Chris Greenwood was expected to be in the mix for a significant role this season. However, he has missed a majority of the offseason program due to a hernia injury. No NFL team, not even the Lions, will keep a player who either can't stay healthy or can't even participate in practice.

Drew Butler was brought in to give Sam Martin some competition at punter, but given how Martin has excelled this offseason, Butler will be sent packing sooner rather than later.
