With the roster of the Philadelphia Eagles being so young on average, there should not be many surprises in who gets released before the start of the NFL regular season. However, the team does need to trim down to 53 players, so here are five guys who are fighting to stay.

Damaris Johnson has actually lasted three seasons with Philadelphia. However, with a deep group of wide receivers, look for him to be cut before Week 1.

With Brent Celek and Zach Ertz firmly slotted in at tight end, Casey may not prove to be much of an asset, especially for a team that does not use a fullback.

With four wide receiver spots locked up by Jeremy Maclin, Riley Cooper, Jordan Matthews and Josh Huff, only one, possibly two additional spots are open at the position. Smith definitely has an upper hand with his ability to play special teams, but his spot is firmly on the bubble.

There have been whispers all offseason about his lack of arm strength. Reports have indicated he has struggled early in camp and that there is no guarantee he makes the roster.

It would take something big for Philadelphia to cut Cole. However, it is not out of the question, as he is getting up there in age combined with a young roster around him.
