There has been a lot of talk surrounding the contract status of Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant, who is entering the final year of his contract. There have been rumors that the Cowboys are not willing to pay him like a top-five receiver. I believe Bryant is easily a top WR in the NFL, and I am 100 percent confident that he will be paid like one very soon. Here are five reasons why Bryant will be a Cowboy for many years to come.

The Dallas Cowboys lack playmakers on both sides of the ball. Tony Romo is much better than people give him credit for, but he is 34 and coming off two back surgeries. Jason Witten is consistently reliable, but he isn’t going to make the explosive plays. Bryant is the only player who can strike fear into opposing defenses, and can single-handedly take over and dominate a game.

Many people believe Dez Bryant is immature. They look at the game in Detroit or the game against the Packers, and come to the conclusion that he acts like a spoiled child. I view it differently. I see a guy who hates losing with a passion. Dallas needs more guys who hate losing as much as Bryant does. There are times when he lets his emotions get the best of him, but he is still one of the few fiery leaders on the roster.

There was a time when I would have been against the Cowboys giving Bryant a big contract. I was of the belief that he was a guy that you would never be able to trust off the field. They were always minor incidents, but it seemed like there would always be something with him. However, Bryant has proved me wrong in the last two years. He has stayed out of trouble and been a model citizen. Bryant has proven that he can be trusted.

Jerry Jones loves all his players, but there is a little extra love for Bryant. Jerry traded up into the first round to draft him, and he gave him one of the franchise's most prestigious numbers in 88. Jerry believed Bryant could be the next Drew Pearson or Michael Irvin. Jerry isn’t known for playing hardball when it comes to contract negotiations, and I can assure you that he isn’t going to start with Dez Bryant.

Those who do not believe Bryant is a top-five WR are sadly mistaken, and the numbers prove it. In the past two seasons, he is the only player to have back-to-back seasons of at least 1200 yards receiving and at least 12 touchdowns. I am not saying that makes Bryant the No. 1 receiver in the NFL, but it definitely puts him in the top five.
