Green Bay Packers Training Camp: 5 Players on the Roster Bubble

With one week done for the Green Bay Packers' 2014 training camp, there have been some standouts. Micah Hyde's solid play at safety has impressed his coaches, tight end Richard Rodgers has made some great catches and defensive linemen B.J. Raji and Datone Jones seem to be improved from last year. There are, however, some players who are probably not going to make the final roster this year.

The Green Bay Packers' first-round draft pick from 2012 has not lived up to expectations. He missed most of his rookie season with an injury and had a very sub par showing in 2013. Though his speed and strength are almost prototypical for a linebacker, he has not been able to generate consistent pressure on quarterbacks or stop the run. Drafting Carl Bradford earlier this year may indicate Perry being on his way out.

Worthy played 14 games in his rookie season and was largely under-average in all aspects of his game. The 2012 second-round pick out of Michigan State then played only one game in 2013 due to injury. He has the reputation of being injury prone and may well be on the chopping block. The defensive end simply was not able to live up to what Dom Capers wanted since the get-go.

In three years with the Green Bay Packers offensive tackle Derek Sherrod has only played in 12 games. He struggled to adapt to the Packers' offense early on and has had consistent durability issues. With Brian Bulaga and David Bakhtiari most likely set to start at the two tackle positions this year, Sherrod's place on the roster is in jeopardy.

2. Ryan Taylor

In his three years with the Packers, 2011 drafted tight end Ryan Taylor has had eight receptions and one touchdown. He has been decent on special teams, but ultimately, his inability to create separation makes him a poor receiving tight end. With superior receivers and blockers such as Brandon Bostick, Andrew Quarless, Richard Rodgers, Jake Stoneburner and Colt Lyerla in camp, it is unlikely Taylor will make the final roster.

Linebacker Jamari Lattimore has made only 46 tackles through three unproductive seasons. Much like Nick Perry, Jamari Lattimore's position is in jeopardy due to the Packers' 2014 draft pick Carl Bradford. Bradford has skills that make him an ideal choice at either linebacker position. Lattimore has also been sick for a few days of camp so far. He will need to get healthy and start producing soon or start looking for work elsewhere.
