Coming off a very disappointing 2013 season, the Houston Texans are in full-blown rebuilding mode. As a result, this is a team with plenty of players to keep an eye on the 2014 preseason. Will these players prove themselves to be valuable assets?

These are the 10 players to keep an eye on during the Houston Texans’ preseason.

The consensus best guard prospect in the 2014 NFL draft, Xavier Su’a-Filo goes into this preseason looking to wrap up a starting gig. Su’a-Filo has great run-blocking talent, and while he’s raw he could be an instant starter.

Acquired this offseason from the Atlanta Falcons, Akeem Dent will be expected to become one of the Texans starting inside linebackers. Dent is very athletic, but he must prove that his decline in Atlanta was an aberration and not an indication of things to come.

Signed this offseason after becoming one of the league’s better safeties with the Miami Dolphins, Chris Clemons needs to show that he can beat out Kendrick Lewis and become a starter with the Texans. Clemons has the talent, he just needs to show Houston is the right fit for him.

Although Garrett Graham is firmly entrenched as the Texans starting tight end, C.J. Fiedorowicz has the talent to be a very good backup right away. Fiedorowicz isn't going to be a star, but his blocking is good enough for him to see playing time.

6. Andre Johnson, WR

Despite reports earlier this offseason that Andre Johnson wanted to be traded, he appears to have re-dedicated himself to the team, and Bill O'Brien should get the most out of Johnson. If Johnson's training camp performance is any indication, Johnson should remain an elite receiver in 2014.

For a brief period at the beginning of the 2013 season, DeAndre Hopkins looked like a star in the making, and going into 2014, he will try to find that form again. Hopkins is a tremendous athlete with all the talent to be a top receiver. Hopefully, he can fit in with the Texans' new offense.

The Texans are in need of a third corner, and Andre Hal could fit the bill. He has great ball skills and he is a good athlete, but the preseason will show just how far Hal's technique has come.

A few seasons ago, Arian Foster was perhaps the best running back in all of football, however, coming off a disastrous 2013 season, Foster must prove he can still start in the NFL. This preseason will provide a glimpse at just how much Foster can rebound.

2. Tom Savage, QB

A fourth round selection in the 2014 draft, Tom Savage is expected to develop into the Texans' starter in a few seasons. If he can show off some skill in the preseason, Savage will be well on his way to cementing himself as a legitimate starting option.

This year's No. 1 overall pick, Jadeveon Clowney is a once-in-a-generation type of talent. He's a ferocious pass rusher, and an athletic monster. This preseason will allow Clowney to settle into his spot as an outside linebacker, and that could really help him reach his full potential right away.
