The majority of the starting roles are set for the St. Louis Rams to begin the preseason, but there are still plenty of backup spots available. The battles will play out over the next few weeks, so here's a look at five players who are currently on the roster bubble in St. Louis.

It's still unclear whether or not the Rams will carry three quarterbacks, and if they don't, it's likely Davis' will have to fight for a practice squad spot with Gilbert Garrett if he wants to stick with the club in 2014. However, considering Sam Bradford's injury history, it might serve the team well to break the season with Davis on the 53-man roster.

Cunningham was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 2013 as the final pick of the draft and carries the unfortunate 'Mr. Irrelevant' tag with him into preseason with the Rams. Cunningham is currently listed as the fourth tight end on the Rams depth chart, and considering most teams carry just four, he must start to make a huge impression if he wants to guarantee a spot on the team.

The Rams' defensive-line is undoubtedly the strength of the team in 2014. They are very deep at the tackle position, which makes Conrath's designs on sticking with the club to start the season unlikely. Barring an injury, it's likely he lands with the practice squad.

2. Chase Reynolds

St. Louis has a wealth of talent at running back, and it's unlikely Reynolds will see any playing time at the position. But he's carved out enough of a niche on special teams that will make it hard for the Rams' brass to leave him off the 53-man roster. He's paid his dues on the practice squad for years now and deserves a chance to cement his role on the team.

The Rams have arguably the best DE in the league in Robert Quinn, and another stellar player at the position in Chris Long, which is making it incredibly difficult for Sam to guarantee a spot on the 53-man roster to start the season. It might serve him well to spend some time on the practice squad, which is where I expect him to begin his NFL career.
