The Dallas Cowboys are getting set to take on the San Diego Chargers for their first preseason game of the 2014 NFL Season.

Preseason football might not be the most exciting football to watch, but for many of those players, it is the chance of a lifetime; it’s their chance to seize the moment.

That is why I have compiled this list of 10 Dallas Cowboys to watch during the 2014 NFL preseason.

10. Terrance Mitchell, CB, Dallas Cowboys

I want to see what the Terrance Mitchell hype is all about. Everything coming out of training camp says that this kid can play. So, I want to see what he can do during a real game.

9. Ken Bishop, DT, Dallas Cowboys

Ken Bishop is a guy that I really like watching at the line of scrimmage because he’s violent at the point of attack. He won’t offer the Cowboys much in the pass-rushing department, but he will occupy double-teams and be a force against the run, making him, in my opinion, a perfect candidate to play the 1-technique in Rod Marinelli’s defensive scheme.

8. Zack Martin, RG, Dallas Cowboys

Zack Martin was my highest graded offensive guard coming out of college, and the fact that he’s a Dallas Cowboy has me excited about the possibility of fielding one of the most dominant offensive lines that the Cowboys have seen in a long time. Martin has all the tools necessary to dominate, so I want to see how he develops leading up to the season opener.

7. Anthony Hitchens, LB, Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys drafted Anthony Hitchens with the intent of breaking him in behind Sean Lee. Unfortunately, Lee was lost for the season and the Cowboys were left scrambling for help at linebacker. Word out of training camp, however, is that Hitchens has been practicing at weak side linebacker (WILL), and has looked good.

6. Davon Coleman, DT, Dallas Cowboys

One of my favorite prospects coming out of college was Davon Coleman. This young man is ferocious on the field, and has a non-stop motor. Word out of camp is that he has impressed coaches, so I want to see how he does on the field.

5. J.J. Wilcox, SS, Dallas Cowboys

Early on in the offseason, word was that J.J. Wilcox’s development had come a long way since his rookie year. Now, that might not mean much, given how disastrous that was, but I’m excited to see what might finally be the answer at safety for the Cowboys.

4. Rolando McClain, LB, Dallas Cowboys

Rolando McClain had a bunch of things going on outside of football, which he appears to have moved on from. Now, and fully committed to the Cowboys, I want to see if he can make an impact for the defense and solidify the middle linebacker spot that was vacated when Sean Lee was lost for the season.

3. Terrance Williams, WR, Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys will need Terrance Williams to improve on his rookie season if their offense is going to be as explosive as expected under Scott Linehan. I will be looking to see if Williams can be more than a one-trick pony. I want to see that he’s developed a full route tree.

2. Gavin Escobar, TE, Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys invested a second round pick in Gavin Escobar hoping that he would be able to help them establish the 12 personnel offense. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened, but I wouldn’t go as far as saying that the Cowboys won’t continue trying to establish it. So, I want to see how much Escobar has developed and how he’s going to be used in Scott Linehan’s offense.

1. Brandon Weeden, QB, Dallas Cowboys

Say what you want about Brandon Weeden, but I think that he’s going to be starting for the Cowboys at some point in 2014; the guy’s got an NFL-ready arm and can make all the throws necessary. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have much experience, so getting him as many touches as possible, in my opinion, is absolutely crucial to the Cowboys' success going forward.
