David Wilson Delivers Emotional Farewell Speech Following NFL Retirement
The third-year player and former first-round pick was forced to retire from football recently after a string of neck injuries put his long-term health in jeopardy. The future was bright for Wilson, who’s only 23 years old, but the man made a logical decision to walk away from the NFL with his health intact – for the most part.
In his farewell speech, Wilson did his best to hold back tears as he reflected on his journey to the NFL and what life held for him now. Still, despite his obvious disappointment, it’s great to see someone see such an unfortunate situation in as positive of a light as Wilson does.
For those of you who are impatient, the emotions start to boil over at about 4:50.
Even people who hate the Giants have to have some sort of respect for Wilson, who proved today what a class act he is.
