Predicting the Jacksonville Jaguars' Final Depth Chart

The Jacksonville Jaguars still have four preseason games to play before they have to trim their roster down to 53 players, but after a couple of weeks of training camp, it is becoming clear how the final roster could shake out. With that being said, here is what the final depth chart could look like at the start of the regular season.

9. Quarterback (3)

Chad Henne, Ricky Stanzi, Blake Bortles

General manager Dave Caldwell likes to keep three quarterbacks on the active roster. If the Jaguars are serious about having Bortles sit this season, then Stanzi makes the team as Henne's backup.

8. Running Back (5)

8. Running Back (5)

Toby Gerhart, Jordan Todman, Denard Robinson, Storm Johnson, Will Ta'ufo'ou

The newly signed Gerhart is expected to be the workhorse out of the backfield. Behind him, Todman and an improving Robinson will combine to provide a nice change of pace. Johnson is a work in progress, but should make the team based on his potential. The Jaguars still like to use a fullback, so Ta'ufo'ou should return.

7. Wide Receiver (6)

7. Wide Receiver (6)

Cecil Shorts III, Marqise Lee, Allen Robinson, Mike Brown, Kerry Taylor, Allen Hurns

Shorts is the unquestioned leader of this group and rookies Lee and Robinson provide plenty of reason for excitement. With Ace Sanders facing a four-game suspension and Tandon Doss battling injuries, it opens the door for Taylor and the undrafted rookie Hurns.

6. Tight End (3)

6. Tight End (3)

Marcedes Lewis, Clay Harbor, Marcel Jensen

As one of the best all-around tight ends in the league, Lewis is the unquestioned starter. Harbor is a nice pass-catching option and will serve as the No. 2 tight end if healthy. Jensen, an undrafted rookie, is a raw talent but has flashed potential throughout the offseason.

5. Offensive Line (8)

Mike Brewster Jacksonville Jaguars

Luke Joeckel, Zane Beadles, Mike Brewster, Brandon Linder, Austin Pasztor, Cam Bradfield, Luke Bowanko, Jacques McClendon

There are still a couple of battles for starting jobs that will be settled during the preseason. Brewster is expected to take over as the starting center, but will face competition from McClendon and Bowanko. McClendon is also battling the rookie Linder for the starting right guard job.

4. Defensive Line (10)

Chris Clemons Jacksonville Jaguars

4. Defensive Line (10)

Red Bryant, Sen'Derrick Marks, Roy Miller, Chris Clemons, Tyson Alualu, Ziggy Hood, Arby Jones, Andre Branch, Ryan Davis, Chris Smith

This is the deepest the Jaguars defensive line has been in quite some time. The addition of former Seattle Seahawks' Bryant and Clemons should help bolster a lackluster pass rush. Branch, Davis and Smith will join Clemons to give the Jaguars a solid rotation at the LEO position.

3. Linebacker (6)

Dekoda Watson Jacksonville Jaguars

3. Linebacker (6)

Geno Hayes, Paul Posluszny, Dekoda Watson, Telvin Smith, Nate Stupar, LaRoy Reynolds

Reynolds has played well at the new OTTO position in place of an injured Watson, and has solidified his spot on the roster. The rookie Smith has had a solid camp and will provide great depth behind the oft-injured Hayes.

2. Defensive Back (9)

Jeremy Harris Jacksonville Jaguars

2. Defensive Back (9)

Alan Ball, Dwayne Gratz, Will Blackmon, Demetrius McCray, Jeremy Harris, Johnathan Cyprien, Winston Guy, Josh Evans, Joe Young

The Jaguars secondary is loaded with plenty of young talent. There are not many surprises here other than the absence of fourth-year cornerback Mike Harris. Second-year players Demetrius McCray and Jeremy Harris are better fits for head coach Gus Bradley's defensive scheme, making Mike Harris expendable.

1. Specialists (3)

Josh Scobee Jacksonville Jaguars

1. Specialists (3)

Josh Scobee Jacksonville Jaguars

Josh Scobee, Bryan Anger, Carson Tinker

Other than the fact that these players face little to no competition to make the roster, Scobee is consistently one of the best kickers in the NFL and there are not many punters out there with a stronger leg than Anger.
