New York Jets’ Make Great Move Signing OL Bruce Campbell For Depth
Offensive lineman Bruce Campbell now has the chance to show his abilities with a brand new team. Acquired by the New York Jets, Campbell will provide some much-needed depth to their offensive line as his experience, strength and speed to be a quality blocker will all come to play in his new home.
The Jets have been spread pretty thin on their o-line depth, and you can never have enough depth at those key positions on offense. Campbell excels when it comes to creating gaps for running the football which will bode great for the Jets. It was a key move by the Jets to bring him into training camp as a non-roster invite to see his potential up close. He impressed many with his overall burst speed and toughness which earned him a spot with the team.
It’s expected Campbell will be a backup for offensive tackle and be used in rotations with both Breno Giacomini and D’Brickashaw Ferguson. Campbell will use his size efficiently with the Jets as he’s 6-foot-7 and over 300 pounds which will truly put more meaning to the Jets’ ground-and-pound style of offense. If the running game plans to be successful this upcoming season, it will primarily be accomplished by winning the battle in the trenches.
If the Jets’ o-line can provide the necessary lanes and stellar blocking, there is no telling just how potent the rushing game will be if it all comes together. Campbell will surely help in that as depth is incredibly important to have throughout the season just in case injury occurs or if players need breaks to catch a breath on the sidelines. Overall, this is a smart move by the Jets as Campbell has everything that it takes to be successful in the long run this upcoming season.
