The St. Louis Rams have reason to be excited heading into the 2014 season. St. Louis has fortified the offensive and defensive lines through the draft, and we now finally get to see the new talent on the field. Here's a look at five things to watch for in the preseason opener.

Mason was listed as the fourth running back on the Rams' initial preseason depth chart despite the hype he carries into his first NFL season. The rookie needs to make a quick impression if he intends on taking carries away from Zac Stacy during the regular season.

QB Sam Bradford has been ruled out for the Rams' preseason opener, so we will see a healthy amount of Shaun Hill, Austin Davis and Garrett Gilbert under center. Hill has the most experience and should cement the backup role to start the season, but there's an outside chance Davis can win the job with a strong showing over the next four weeks.

Donald was the second of the Rams' first-round draft picks this season and is expected to make an already stellar defensive line even more dominant up the middle with his presence at DT. It will be interesting to see how he fares against the New Orleans Saints' offensive line that does a good job protecting QB Drew Brees.

2. Greg Robinson's Presence On The Offensive Line

Robinson was chosen No. 2 overall in the 2014 draft and undoubtedly carries lofty expectations into his NFL debut. LT Jake Long has been ruled out of the game, so it will be interesting to see if the Rams' coaching staff will give Robinson any time at left tackle or if he will stay in the left guard spot which he is being groomed to play.

Sam will undoubtedly make history in his NFL debut as the league's first openly gay player. The seventh-round draft pick is fighting for a spot on an incredibly deep defensive line and needs to make a great impression on the field during the preseason to cement a role on the team in 2014.
