Andy Reid definitely disagrees with Homer Simpson's philosophy. Not every coach's favorite part of the game is the cuts. It's tough to have to crush dozens of people's dreams every year, but it has to be done. Here are five Kansas City Chiefs in danger of that happening.
The undrafted free agent out of Tulane needs to separate himself from Ryan Succop to make the team, and he has not done that yet. He's looked good in camp, but he needs to give the Chiefs a good reason to choose him over Succop and his five years of experience.
Amaya was signed on Sunday after safety Steve Gregory retired. He was a reserve for the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins from 2010-12, and sat out the 2013 season after being cut by the Arizona Cardinals. At 6-foot-2, he has the size GM John Dorsey likes, but he will have to prove himself fast in order to make the 53-man roster.
Time is running out for Johnson to prove himself with the Chiefs. The 2013 fourth-round pick out of Alabama has been underwhelming since joining Kansas City. Johnson needs to show some improvement soon because he is falling down the depth chart.
Unless the Chiefs decide to keep four running backs, Gray may find himself cut or on the practice squad. Jamaal Charles, Knile Davis and De'Anthony Thomas are locks to make the roster. Gray has been the third-string running back in Kansas City for two years and that may be it for him, though Thomas role at punt returner and wide receiver may incline the Chiefs to keep another running back on hand.
The CFL star drew some interest when he signed with the Chiefs in February, but his story could be over before it starts. Dressler's chances of making the team took a big hit when the Kansas City drafted De'Anthony Thomas. The emergence of undrafted free agent Albert Wilson has made it even worse. Both players have similar skill sets to Dressler's, and both have wowed Andy Reid.
