When the Cleveland Browns take the field for their second preseason game on Monday against the Washington Redskins, there will be a number of players to watch who find themselves in positional battles. Some players have been highly publicized, while others are flying under the radar. Here are five players to watch during the Browns' Monday night tilt against the Redskins in Week 2 of the preseason.

Charles Johnson is one of many wide receivers on the Browns' roster who is fighting for a spot within the group. The Browns have brought in multiple young receivers in an attempt to find someone capable of filling in for Josh Gordon. Johnson made the most of his opportunities in Cleveland's first preseason game, catching three balls for 30 yards, and will look to continue to be a reliable target for either Johnny Manziel or Brian Hoyer this week.

Like Johnson, Willie Snead is a young receiver who is fighting for a chance to make the final roster as a wide receiver. Unlike Johnson, Snead looked unimpressive in his first NFL game and looked a little lost at times while in his routes. Snead will have to pick it up in Week 2; expect him to look sharper on his routes and show more awareness after another week of practice. He should see significant playing time as Cleveland finalizes a roster.

The Browns' first-round draft choice did not play in Cleveland's first preseason game due to a groin injury and has been limited to riding the exercise bike during week two's practices. If Gilbert is able to play, it shouldn't be expected that he will play a significant amount of snaps due to the injury. It would be beneficial for Gilbert to get in-game NFL experience, but as the Browns' first-round choice, he shouldn't be rushed.

2. Brian Hoyer, QB

Brian Hoyer will be near the top of the "players to watch" list throughout the preseason. His battle for the starting QB role in Cleveland has been well-documented, and his Week 1performance was neither strong nor poor. Hoyer was able to lead the offense to two field goal-scoring drives but unable to lead the Browns into the end zone. In Week 2, he will share first-team reps in order to help determine who should start the regular season.

It will be interesting to see if Johnny Manziel is ever NOT near the top of a "players to watch list". Mike Pettine has said that he and Brian Hoyer will split first-team snaps during the Browns' game against Washington. Manziel looked solid in his NFL debut with accurate throws and the running ability that has him tabbed as one of the game's most exciting players. In Week 1, Manziel rushed for 27 yards and threw for 63 on seven completions.
