In Week 2 of preseason action, the New York Jets are set to go up against the Cincinnati Bengals in what many have dubbed a "revenge" game. The Jets have not forgotten the beating they endured last season in which they lost to the Bengals 49-9. The Bengals also are looking for their first victory in the preseason to start building on some positive notes. Take a look at my five bold predictions for this game.
Wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher has been working hard all summer long in trying to prove that he's capable of being the No. 2 option at his position alongside A.J. Green. Expect to see a huge game out of him as he will leave everything on the field to move up on the depth chart of the Bengals.
The New York Jets have committed about 70 percent of their offensive game plan to running the football. With running back Chris Johnson leading the charge, expect to see a heavy dosage of some good old-fashioned smash-mouth football. Look for the Jet's committee at the position featuring Johnson, Bilal Powell, Chris Ivory, Daryl Richardson and Alex Green.
The Bengals are a little banged up when it comes to their quarterbacks. Andy Dalton should see a series or two as the rest of the playing time at quarterback will be used to evaluate who will be his main backup this upcoming season. With Jason Campbell hurt and Tyler Wilson nowhere near ready to play, expect to see Matt Scott get a ton of reps. Hopefully, he'll skip the fast food meal before the game this time around!
The Jets recently decided that they would indeed bring back the wildcat offense and use it with Michael Vick. Since Vick still has some gas left in his tank, the Jets would like to utilize his speed and evasiveness on the field. Whether you love the idea or hate it, expect to see the Jets give it a few tries against the Bengals to see how effective the wildcat formation can be.
Quarterback Tajh Boyd has been struggling throughout training camp, but has kept his attitude positive. It's expected he will make his NFL debut at some point in this game and will be given an opportunity to see if he can grasp the Jets' offense and execute. Expect to see him get a huge chunk of reps behind Matt Simms, who will also see some playing time.
