Marques Colston In Line For Bounce-Back Season With New Orleans Saints
Coming off a down season as far as production is concerned, Marques Colston will be looking to rebound in 2014 with the New Orleans Saints. The team still has Drew Brees at the helm, and Sean Payton remains a great play-caller, so Colston should definitely be in line for a bounce-back season in 2014.
Since he entered the league, Colston has exceeded expectations. As a matter of fact, Colston averaged over 1,000 yards from 2009-12 and in 2012, he came down with 10 touchdown catches, making his down 2013 season very surprising. That said, 2014 marks a new year and an opportunity to prove that 2013 was simply a fluke.
With guys like Brandin Cooks and Kenny Stills in the fold, the Saints have players who can help take the pressure off Colston, allowing him to return to his former production. Not to mention, anytime a team has Brees at the helm, every receiver instantly has an opportunity for big production.
What really might allow Colston to rebound to his old form, however, is his work ethic and chemistry with Brees. He’s had to work hard from the moment he entered the league, and over the years, the Brees-Colston connection has become one of the best in the NFL. Colston isn’t going to allow one down year to ruin the rest of his career if his work ethic is any indication.
Overall, Colston is in line to return to the form that made him a great No. 1 receiver for the Saints for so many years. More talent around him and the fact he is willing to work hard for results make Colston a great bet for a bounce-back season in 2014.
