The Green Bay Packers are less than three weeks away from kicking off the 2014 NFL season against the Seattle Seahawks. With only two preseason games left, the Packers must get their roster down to 53 players. Of those 53, there will be overrated, underrated and players that will deliver exactly as expected. Here’s a look at the five most overrated players that will clinch a roster spot.

Inside linebacker Brad Jones had a career year in 2013, which is a big reason why everyone is talking about him being a staple of the defense in 2014. However, the Packers gave up an average of 4.6 rushing yards per gain and 125.0 rushing yards per game last season, which ranked 25th and 30th in the NFL respectively. Jones ranked third on the team in tackles, but he also proved to be incapable of stopping the run last season.

B.J. Raji’s interception returned for a touchdown in the NFC Championship Game in 2011 will go down as one of the all-time great moments in Packers history. Unfortunately, there are plenty of reasons why he’s overrated. The average fan is going to assume he’s one of the better players on the team. The reality is he has been a weak link the past few seasons. In three years, he has recorded 65 total tackles and three sacks in 46 games.

Morgan Burnett is one of the higher paid safeties in the NFL thanks to a $26.073 million contract extension he signed last summer. He followed that up with the worst statistical season of his career, including being the only strong safety in the NFL to not record a takeaway. Burnett has shown the ability to be a top-notch playmaker, but he will continue to be overrated if he can’t put forth a solid effort in 2014.

Like all Packers fans, I’m a huge supporter of John Kuhn. The way he continues to do an outstanding job on special teams and blocking for Aaron Rodgers on offense is awesome. Kuhn developed into a folk hero over the years as fans have embraced the blue-collar style that he brings to the game. However, Kuhn also gets far more credit than he deserves, which includes being named No. 92 on the NFL Network’s “Top 100 Players of 2012 list.”

A.J. Hawk stepped up for the Packers big when it mattered most, which was during their 2010 Super Bowl run. That doesn’t mean that fans will take away the fact that he’s completely overrated. Being drafted fifth overall is going to come with high expectations. Despite Hawk leading the team in tackles in four of his seven seasons, he’s still someone who consistently misses out on making the big play.
