The Chicago Bears found a way to come away with a victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2 of the preseason. Everything wasn’t pretty, but it was enough to get the job done. Some things seemed to become more solidified, while others appeared to need more work. Here are five things we came away with from the Bears’ second preseason win.

During the Bears’ first touchdown drive in the second quarter, Jay Cutler was able to take his sweet time picking apart the Jaguars’ defense. This was all thanks to the offensive line’s ability to keep defenders away from their franchise quarterback. This could be a good sign for Cutler and a potential career season.

Just when we thought that there was nowhere else to go but up for Chicago’s special teams unit, they proved that it was actually possible to get worse. Two of the Bears’ returners fumbled the ball, one of which resulted in a turnover.

The season-ending injury to Zach Miller has once again opened the door for the No. 2 tight end spot. Currently, it seems to be a battle between Matthew Mulligan and Dante Rosario to fill that gap. Rosario just might be the one to do so, considering he has one year of experience with this offensive system under his belt.

Most assumed that the Bears’ fourth-round draft pick would automatically be the backup to Matt Forte. However, Ka’Deem Carey has been outplayed by veteran Shaun Draughn. Carey did find the end zone against the Jaguars, but Draughn’s 33 yards on three carries, and two receptions for 12 yards in Week 2 could put him over the top.

The former defensive end went from recording two tackles in Week 1 of the preseason to tallying four stops in Week 2, including one for a loss. There is still a ways to go in order for Shea McClellin to earn a spot in the starting lineup, but he’s slowly proving that he can be an NFL linebacker.
