According to Cleveland Browns' head coach Mike Pettine, Week 2 of the preseason marks the final game in which Brian Hoyer and Johnny Manziel will compete for the regular season starting quarterback role. Against the Redskins, both Hoyer and Manziel will get snaps with the first team in order to showcase their on-field abilities. If Pettine's word holds true, we could know as early as Tuesday who will be the starter when the regular season opens.

Browns' head coach Mike Pettine has said that both Hoyer and Manziel will get an equal amount of snaps in Monday's matchup against Washington, but it will be interesting to see if it works out that way. The pair of QBs are slated to rotate every two series and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan is tasked with coming up with specific game plans for each.

A two-quarterback system has never caught on in the NFL, but the Browns will get a dose of it when Hoyer and Manziel are rotating series. Although Manziel was playing against second-team players against Detroit, he was able to consistently move the ball and the offense took well to him being in there. Hoyer, who started against the Lions, was also able to drive down the field but looked shaky at times during his drives.

In their first preseason game, the Browns weren't able to find the end zone. After tonight, Mike Pettine may ultimately decide that it's premature to announce a starter for the regular season, but his choice may hinge on who can lead a touchdown-scoring drive for Cleveland. Putting points on the board will inevitably help their cases. Additionally, Hoyer will need to look better on third down plays and will get his chance first, as he will start.

Anyone who is a college football fan is well-aware of what Johnny Manziel can do on the field. His ability to make plays on the fly has already established Manziel as one of the more exciting players in the NFL, but his passing is the one question mark that sticks with him. Against Detroit, Manziel threw the ball well, completing seven passes for 63 yards. Expect Manziel to see more passing plays, as the Browns attempt to evaluate his readiness.

One of the biggest question marks after the Browns' Week 2 game against Washington will be whether Hoyer and Manziel separated from each other enough for Pettine to name a starter. So far, we've seen Manziel close a sizable gap between the two in training camp, and Manziel may have edged out Hoyer in Cleveland's game in Week 1 due to his amount of repetitions. Will Tuesday be the day that the Browns' QB history turns yet another page?
