Wide receiver Clyde Gates is anxiously awaiting his opportunities to contribute to his team once and for all. It’s not easy to watch plays on the sidelines, and Gates hasn’t been able to stay healthy with the New York Jets, but he is ready to finally break out.
Gates has had a solid preseason, including looking sharp in training camps. He knows the Jets’ offensive playbook and has been running his routes with purpose. With all eyes on Eric Decker this season, most fans forget that Gates will complement him very well with his speed and ability to make big plays after the catch.
The greatest part about Gates is that he’s been a sleeper so far, largely going under the NFL radar.
With only two touchdowns under his belt in his professional football career, he is ready to enjoy a full season filled with opportunities to become a household name on offense. Of course, it all depends if he can stay healthy, but he’s been handling everything in stride.
With most eyes on Decker, Stephen Hill and Jeremy Kerley, perhaps Gates can help jolt the Jets’ offense in ways they’ve never seen by making big plays through the air.
