On Saturday night, the Dallas Cowboys will take on the Miami Dolphins in the third preseason game for each team. Week 3 of the preseason is commonly referred to as the “dress rehearsal” for the regular season. It’s the most exciting preseason game for the fans. With that in mind, here are five players Cowboys fans should be watching closely this weekend.

This is assuming that Morris Claiborne actually plays, which is a big assumption. If Dallas is going to have even an adequate defense then Claiborne must be better this season. If Claiborne doesn’t play in the preseason, it’s hard to imagine him having the confidence he needs when the regular season begins.

Joseph Randle has had a great preseason so far. He has led the team in rushing in each of the first two games. Randle will play a major role for the Cowboys this season as the primary backup to DeMarco Murray.

Terrance Williams has had a quiet preseason so far, and while you can’t put to much stock into the preseason, it would be nice to see him make a play or two on Saturday. Dallas needs Williams to make plays and take some of the attention away from Dez Bryant.

2. Rolando McClain

Dallas lacks playmakers on the defensive side of the ball. One potential playmaker they do have is Rolando McClain. McClain was a top-10 pick who had off-the-field issues and retired. He had a good game against Baltimore, but the key for McClain is to put together back-to-back good games. He will get that chance this weekend.

The Dallas Cowboys' defense may be better than last season, but it won’t be that much better. In reality Dallas’ hopes fall on the shoulders of one man, Tony Romo. Romo played well against Baltimore, and maybe more importantly, he didn’t get hurt. Dallas will hope for the same results in Miami.
