It's going to be a long, tough road for the New York Jets if they want to make the playoffs in 2014. They rank No. 9 in strength of schedule (.520) and will see a heavy dose of the NFC North this season. The Jets need to defy the odds and win some big games this year. Here are the top-five games that should be circled on the schedule.

The Jets will host the Dolphins in the last week of the season in a game that could have a big impact on the playoffs. The Dolphins are a team on the rise just like the Jets, so it should be interesting to see what team is rising up the ranks faster. This is the second matchup between the two teams in 2014, so it could prove to be a rubber match, or if someone wins both it could help improve their chance at a playoff berth.

The Jets head to Arrowhead Stadium for a rowdy and loud game against the Chiefs in Week 9. The Chiefs have a ton of talent on the defensive side of the ball, but so do the Jets. I expect a low-scoring affair between these two teams. The Chiefs and Jets are very similar; both have a solid defense, play safe on offense and rely on a rushing attack. It should be a fun game to watch when the two meet up a little more than midway through the season.

The Jets take on Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in Week 2 of the regular season. This is the first big test for the Jets' secondary that has been injury bitten early on in the preseason. If the Jets fall to the Oakland Raiders in Week 1 and Packers in Week 2, they will be in big trouble so they must start the regular season with a win-now mentality. The Jets' defense needs to contain Rodgers and stud RB Eddie Lacy if they plan on winning the game.

2. Week 6 vs. Denver Broncos

The Jets get the privilege of facing the Broncos and their explosive passing attack in Week 6. Manning will test the Jets' defense in every way possible, so they must have a game plan against the NFL's best QB. Jets wideout Eric Decker gets a chance to face his former team for the first time, so look for him to put up some big numbers against his fellow teammates in the blue and orange.

No. 24 Darrelle Revis turned to the dark side when he became a member of the New England Patriots in the offseason, and the Jets need to one-up him. Rex Ryan is outspoken for his hate of the Patriots, and I'm sure he can't wait to face Revis and company. It's always a battle when these two take the field, so it's really hard to predict an outcome between these two rivals.
