It’s hard to think of a team that has added as much speed this offseason as the Philadelphia Eagles. A backfield featuring LeSean McCoy, Darren Sproles, and Kenjon Barner behind last season’s most efficient quarterback in Nick Foles gives Eagles fans much to be excited about. However, these five games will be the biggest tests for the team this season.

Barring some catastrophe, the Eagles ought to be able to handle the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1, so the team should enter this Monday night showdown with a win under their belt. Coming up with such a big victory early on in the season would be a huge boost for the Eagles moving forward.

After hosting divisional rival Washington, the Eagles will travel to the Bay Area to face NFC powerhouse San Francisco. The 49ers won’t have any plans to lose a September game in their new stadium, so this will be a tough contest to say the least. However, the absence of Glenn Dorsey in the 49ers’ front seven could leave big holes for the Eagles' running backs.

At this point, the Giants appear to be the Eagles’ main threat in the tumultuous NFC East. This will be the first encounter between the two divisional foes, and it comes right before the Eagles’ bye week. It is critical that Philly nabs this game and enters their week off on a high note.

Don’t forget that the Cardinals won double-digit games in 2013 despite missing the playoffs, so those birds need to be taken seriously this season. The Eagles will be coming off of their bye week, so they will be fully refueled and ready for this huge NFC showdown.

You can bet that this matchup will have far-reaching implications in the NFC playoff picture, let alone for the teams involved. Gaining a win over the defending Super Bowl champions this late in the season would be a massive confidence surge, one that could carry the Eagles deep into the postseason.
