After winning the first Super Bowl in franchise history, the Seattle Seahawks begin their quest to repeat two weeks from today. It will not be an easy journey, as Seattle's schedule is one of the tougher ones in the league. In addition, playing in the physical NFC West can take its toll by the end of the season. Here are five tilts that the Seahawks should circle on their schedule as season-defining games.

In one of their early starts on the East Coast, the Seahawks will play a very physical Carolina Panthers team in Charlotte. The Panthers have one of the best defenses in the league, and their front-seven may be the best. In last year's season opener, Seattle won an ugly game 12-7. While this kind of game can be unappealing to the fans, it's the kind of hard-fought game that defines a team's season.

This may surprise some people, but the young St. Louis Rams are one of the dark horse favorites to win the NFC West this season. Not to mention this is another extremely physical and talented defense that the Seahawks must face one week before they play the Carolina Panthers. Seattle will play the Rams twice, but winning on the road is important because it's what separates good teams from great teams.

In a rematch of Super Bowl XLVIII, the Seahawks will battle a Denver Broncos team that is out for revenge. Even though this is an NFC vs. AFC matchup, it's still a highlight game on Seattle's schedule. The "12th Man" will be at their best and hope to make it hard on Peyton Manning and Denver's high-scoring offense. It will be quite the statement if the Seahawks can repeat their Super Bowl performance.

2. Week 1 vs. Green Bay Packers

The last time the Green Bay Packers came to Seattle, the game was determined by a very controversial touchdown catch made by Golden Tate, who is no longer with the Seahawks. This time Seattle will look to open the NFL season with an uncontroversial win. Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the game, and Seattle's defense will need to be at their best if they hope to keep Green Bay's offense out of the end zone.

This list would not be complete without mentioning the rivalry between the Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers. On Thanksgiving night, these two teams will play for the first time since the NFC Championship Game. While Seattle has dominated the 49ers at home, they have not won in San Francisco since 2008. The Seahawks will look to change that this year, and the winner of this game will likely have the upper hand in winning the division.
