5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Players Who Could Make Pro Bowl in 2014

5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Who Could Make The Pro Bowl In 2014

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers disappointed a season ago to the tune of a 4-12 record. This year, though, the team made some moves to try to improve. The new blood should be able to both contribute and make the returning players around them better. In fact, a mix of five players both new and old have a legitimate chance to make the Pro Bowl this season for the Bucs. Read on to find out who they are.

CB Alterraun Verner has only been in the league since 2010, but in that time he has made a significant impact. He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason to replace CB Darrelle Revis. Verner really broke out in a big way in 2013 with five interceptions, 57 tackles and two fumble recoveries, making his first career Pro Bowl in the process. He should have a decent chance to make the Pro Bowl again this season and in the future with TB.

LB Lavonte David has yet to make a Pro Bowl in his career for the Bucs. However, that is not for lack of trying on his part. With 145 tackles, seven sacks, two forced fumbles and five interceptions last season, he was essentially snubbed by the fans who voted. David is entering just his third year in the NFL and he is a jack-of-all trades player. His best play is still ahead of him at just 24 years old and he could be in the Pro Bowl mix in 2014.

DT Gerald McCoy is coming off of his best year with the Bucs in 2013. He had 50 tackles, 9.5 sacks and one fumble recovery. He has made the Pro Bowl the last two years in a row and his best play may be ahead of him. He is still young at just 26 years old and is very versatile. He can provide support in the run game, and he can get to the quarterback at a very high level. More Pro Bowls could be in his future including the 2014 season.

Dashon Goldson had a very productive season in 2013, but it wasn't quite enough to secure an appearance to the Pro Bowl. He made the Pro Bowl in both 2011 and 2012, though. If he can stay healthy, he should be in the mix for a Pro Bowl berth in 2014. He is one of the better safeties in the NFL, and the fans know his name, which is a big plus considering the snubs we see each and every year.

Like Goldson, Vincent Jackson did not make the Pro Bowl in 2013. He is very familiar with it though, having made three appearances in his career in 2009, 2011 and 2012. Jackson is one of the most talented receivers in the league, and the Bucs upgraded the QB position in 2014. They brought in Josh McCown who shined in Chicago last year. His presence should help Jackson get back to dominating defenses again with definite Pro Bowl upside in 2014.
