The upcoming exhibition game between the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints, a rematch of the 2010 Super Bowl, pits two of the game's greatest quarterbacks and offenses against each other. Here is what to expect Saturday when these teams face off in Week 3 of the exhibition season.
The safety should make his debut during this game, and he was signed to provide an immediate lift to the New Orleans defense. The Saints are known for an explosive offense but, save for their Super Bowl-winning season, defense has been an issue at times.
Brees has missed the first two preseason games due to an oblique injury, but he should be back for this contest. Don't expect Brees to see too much time in this game, just enough to get him acclimated to the field. However, he should produce in the limited time he will see.
Think about something for a minute. We haven't even seen Reggie Wayne or T.Y. Hilton yet in large doses, and the Colts' receiving game has been lights out. Imagine what it will be like when these two get involved. Either way, Andrew Luck has a lot of offensive power to throw to this season.
Colts general manager Ryan Grigson sort of called Richardson out this week, saying he has to get better. The Colts traded for Richardson in the hopes he would ignite a stuffy running game that didn't produce a lot of offense. So far the results have been blah. You wonder how long before Ahmad Bradshaw becomes the No. 1 back and Richardson becomes an afterthought.
Don't be surprised if you see at least 50 points in this game, possibly more. Both teams' defenses are stronger but the offenses are explosive. If this prediction doesn't come true, then the game will be very low scoring. There simply is no middle ground here.
