While the Buffalo Bills are actually entering their fourth preseason game, Week 3 of the preseason is generally considered the most important. This is the game that sees the most playing time for a team’s starters. With that in mind, here are five Bills players to keep an eye on when they go up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday.

The Bills’ seventh-round pick in this year’s draft has been one of the more pleasant surprises of training camp and the preseason. Filling in at left tackle for the injured Cordy Glenn, Henderson has looked better than a number of Buffalo’s veteran offensive linemen. Since it is still unclear how much Glenn will play against Tampa Bay, if at all, Henderson should once again see plenty of action.

4. LB Preston Brown

With Nigel Bradham suspended for the season-opener against the Chicago Bears, the Bills are looking for a one-game fill-in at outside linebacker. Brown, Buffalo’s third-round selection in this year’s draft, has looked good in both training camp and preseason action, and he is a strong candidate to start in the opener in place of Bradham. Brown is competing with Stevenson Sylvester, so it will be interesting to see who starts against Tampa Bay.

It remains to be seen how much Doug Marrone will use Brown in Buffalo’s offense. Brown was brought in this offseason to serve as the Bills’ No. 3 RB behind Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller. While Brown is a very talented player, he figures to have a difficult time getting a lot of touches. Therefore, he really needs to impress in the preseason to show the coaching staff that he deserves to play a part in Buffalo’s plans.

2. WR Sammy Watkins

Buffalo’s star rookie receiver missed most of last week’s game against Pittsburgh due to a rib injury he suffered in the first quarter. Watkins has seen limited action in practice over the past few days, and he may not see much action in Saturday’s game. Obviously the fans want to see more of Watkins’ special abilities on display. But there is no point in playing him in the preseason unless he is 100 percent healthy.

Coming off of a pedestrian performance against the Steelers, Manuel had a good week of practice and should improve his performance considerably against Tampa Bay. One thing to look for is how aggressive Manuel is in the passing game. He has been very conservative to this point. With only two warm-up games left, Manuel needs to take some chances while he still has the opportunity to do so. Only then will the Bills know what they have in their QB.
