Hopes were high among Philadelphia Eagles’ fans, even heading into Thursday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, after an extremely impressive performance, expectations may have actually grown for this team. Philadelphia struggled in many areas throughout their first two NFL preseason games, but seemed to really patch things up in Week 3. Here are the 5 biggest improvements.

If you have been reading my previous articles, you know I have been bashing the league and the refs for the amount of penalty flags being thrown. However, the team must play within the rules, and the secondary did a nice job keeping their hands off of the receivers, for the most part.

He was not sharp during Philadelphia’s first two games, but looked extremely composed in the pocket against Pittsburgh. Foles will inevitably throw more interceptions in 2014, but that does not mean he won't improve as a quarterback.

The entire defensive line played a nice game. Vinny Curry and Brandon Graham were the two guys to stand out, and they will need to continue to make the most of their opportunities, as they will see the field during passing situations.

Foles was under way too much pressure during the first two preseason games. However, the line woke up on Thursday night, and Foles had all day to throw.

Philadelphia’s defense had been fantastic on first and second down throughout the preseason, but could not seem to get off the field on third down. The other night was a different story, as the defensive was swarming all over the field.
