The Jacksonville Jaguars may have lost to the Detroit Lions Friday night, but there was a lot of good to come out of the game for this young team. Young players took advantage of extra playing time and some of the veterans played well in the all-important third preseason game. With that in mind, here are five players who stood out for the Jaguars.

Third-year defensive end Ryan Davis has played well throughout the preseason and came up big again once again in Detroit. Davis provided a consistent rush off the edge and finished the game with one fumble recovery and one quarterback hit. Through three preseason games, Davis appears to be the second-best pass rusher on the team behind veteran defensive end Chris Clemons.

With each passing game this preseason, it is becoming more apparent that veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis will be a big part of the Jaguars' offense this season. He finished the game with two receptions for 45 yards and now has six receptions for 100 yards this preseason. With the high number of play-action and bootlegs the Jaguars run, Lewis could be due for one of his best seasons yet.

After injuries caused him to miss some time earlier in the preseason, linebacker J.T. Thomas received extensive playing time against the Lions and took advantage. He was all over the field defensively and finished with five tackles and a fumble recovery. Thomas has been on the roster bubble, but after Friday's game, he is right back in the thick of things for a spot on the 53-man roster.

The Jaguars have found a hidden gem in undrafted free agent Allen Hurns. The former University of Miami product led the team in receiving for the third-straight week with seven receptions for 113 yards and his first career touchdown. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Hurns has forced his way into the rotation at wide receiver and could potentially be the starter opposite veteran Cecil Shorts III at the start of the regular season.

Quarterback Blake Bortles was impressive for the third-straight game. The rookie completed 10-of-17 pass attempts for 158 yards and a touchdown. He was poised and made a few big-time throws, but after the game, the Jaguars reiterated that veteran Chad Henne would be the starter in Week 1 of the regular season.
