We're getting close to Week 1 of the regular season and it's time for the New York Jets to start shaping up their 53-man roster. Some familiar names will be cut, new faces will make the team and it's up to the front office to make the right moves. Take a look at 10 New York Jets who will not make the opening day roster.

10. LB Troy Davis

The 23-year-old linebacker was on the Jets practice squad last season and even had a chance to play at one point during the regular season. The problem for Davis is that he's been hampered by an injury during the preseason and its taken him off the field. I have a feeling that he may end up where he started off in 2013 and that's back on the practice squad.

9. S Josh Bush

With 4.5 speed and great hands, Bush had the makings of a great safety, but along came Calvin Pryor and Antonio Allen. Bush was rumored to make the team early on in the preseason, but Allen and Pryor took away all of his shine. Bush can play both the safety and corner position and has potential, but the Jets will go Pryor, Allen, Dawan Landry and Jaiquawn Jarrett as their top safeties.

8. LB Trevor Reilly

Reilly is a fun guy to root for because he plays with a lot of fire and energy even though he wasn't cut out for the Jets opening day squad. The Jets value their linebackers, so it would be hard to give a seventh-round pick a chance for ample playing time of the 53-man roster. Reilly may not have made the day one depth chart, but I wouldn't give up on him just yet.

7. WR Quincy Enunwa

GM John Idzik likes his draft picks, but here's one that will be a candidate for the practice squad. The former Nebraska MVP during his senior year of college didn't play at an MVP level for the Jets during training camp. Enunwa was worth taking a chance on in the NFL Draft, but the young kid wasn't the right fit for the Jets' wide receiver group.

6. CB Brandon Dixon

Dixon was a sixth-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft and the young corner still has a lot to learn. He's had his chance to make an impression early on in training camp and he's yet to stand out. His spot will go to LeQuan Lewis who had a strong game against the New York Giants in Week 3. It's not saying much for Dixon if he can't make the roster of a team that in paper-thin at cornerback.

5. QB Tajh Boyd

Boyd may be a candidate for the practice squad, but his days are numbered as a member for the opening day roster. He looked lost on the field when he got his first dose of preseason action. Even though he's quick and fun to watch, it isn't enough to justify a spot for him on the team. Matt Simms will be the clear-cut No. 3 QB on the Jets.

4. OL Caleb Schlauderaff

He's been a member of the New York Jets since 2011 and Schlauderaff only has one NFL start to his name. GM John Idzik is said to be a fan of the versatile offensive lineman, but Dakota Dozier and Dalton Freeman have outplayed him in training camp and the preseason.

There's no doubt that Barnes can play, but he just happens to play at a position where the Jets are already set. It's going to be a shame to see Barnes go because many thought that he would have a break out year, but there's not enough room for him. If the Jets are lucky enough to get him back on their practice squad, I still think that he can make an impact for the team this season.

2. RB Alex Green

Green didn't turn many heads during the preseason and the Jets have a lot of depth at running back, so Green will no longer be in green and white. He only received 11 carries in the preseason for a total of 35 yards, and even though he wasn't given much of a chance, he didn't make the most of his carries.

1. WR Clyde Gates

The speedster and former Miami Dolphin will be given the short end of the stick at wide receiver. With the emergence of Greg Salas and Saalim Hakim now taking over the kick return duties, it leaves Gates without a job. The Jets have a similar receiver to Gates in rookie Jalen Saunders, so Gates, even though he had a strong preseason, may be in a new NFL uniform soon.
