The Houston Texans' third preseason game ended in a surprisingly, nail-biting victory against the Denver Broncos. More surprising was that the team's well-known stars did not stand out in this game. Many rookies and second year veterans helped the Texans win and helped themselves earn a potential spot on the 53-man roster.

Alfred Blue led the team in rushing with nine carries for 27 yards. The numbers may seem low, but the Texans' run game wasn't able to get much yardage that night. Still, Blue proved that he can be a versatile back for the team. Although he will surely be second behind veteran RB Arian Foster, Blue will be a big part of the Texans' running back depth this season.

4. TE Ryan Griffin

Ryan Griffin, the team's second year TE, led in receiving yards with five catches for 71 yards and a 34 yard touchdown that put the Texans within one point behind the Broncos. Griffin has been falling behind veteran TE Garrett Graham and rookie TE C.J. Fiedorowicz in the depth chart this preseason, but his performance on Saturday helped his case.

3. CB A.J. Bouye

Any man that intercepts Peyton Manning will stand out! C.J. Bouye intercepted Manning on a pass intended for Emmanuel Sanders, giving the Texans the ball at their own 43-yard line. This play gave the Texans the opportunity to score the first touchdown of the game after owning in the drive.

2. WR Travis Labhart

Travis Labhart was critical in the Texans' victory on Saturday. He caught the 15 yard catch on 4th and 3 that extended the team's game-winning drive. Labhart also made the play for the two-point conversation to give the Texans the lead at 18-17 with 0:59 remaining. There's only one man who did better that night.

1. QB Tom Savage

Although starting QB Ryan Fitzpatrick played the entire first half, he was not the star of the game. Rookie QB Tom Savage entered with 4:30 remaining in the fourth quarter and threw 5-of-6 for 68 yards, driving the team down the field. Savage also threw his first NFL touchdown and two-point conversion to give the Texans an 18-17. The rookie QB did all this on the road against Manning and the Broncos. That’s a great way to start your NFL career.
