NFL Preseason 2014: 5 Bold Predictions For Seattle Seahawks vs. Oakland Raiders

5 Bold Predictions For Seattle Seahawks vs. Oakland Raiders

In their final tuneup game before the regular season, the Oakland Raiders will host the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night. While most of the starters will likely only play one series (or not at all), the game should be entertaining as it is the last opportunity for players to lock up roster spots before final cuts on Saturday. That being said, here are my five bold predictions for this matchup.

5. Christine Michael Will Score a TD of 40-Plus Yards

With Marshawn Lynch likely only getting a few carries, if any at all, expect Christine Michael and Robert Turbin to, once again, handle most of the running workload. Michael is an explosive runner, and his combination of speed and agility have him primed for a long touchdown run. It hasn't happened in the preseason yet, so he's due.

4. Derek Carr Will Lead the Game in Passing

The Oakland Raiders have struggled to get their passing offense going this preseason, and they will have another tough matchup against one of the best passing defenses in the league. That being said, most of the Seattle starters won't play very much, and they are not as deep as in years past. With Matt Schaub dealing with elbow tendinitis, backup Derek Carr should see most of the reps in this game. Expect him to take advantage.

3. The Seahawks Will Cause At Least 5 Turnovers

On Pete Carroll's teams, it's all about the ball. And since he has been the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, Carroll's "ball hawks" have regularly been some of the best in the NFL in turnover differential. At the same time, the Oakland Raiders have consistently been one of the worst in the league at turning the ball over. The two combined equal a long night for the Raiders.

2. Brice Butler Will Score a TD of 60-Plus Yards

Brice Butler has come out of nowhere to lead the Oakland Raiders in receiving this preseason. He has been one of the few bright spots in Oakland's passing offense and has played well enough to likely make this roster. He's a legitimate deep threat and could find himself behind the Seattle Seahawks' young backups at some point Thursday night. If he does, he'll go all the way.

1. Terrelle Pryor Will Rush For Over 100 Yards

No doubt, Terrelle Pryor will be the most talked about player on the field Thursday night. His move from the Oakland Raiders to the Seattle Seahawks was one of the more interesting moves this offseason. Pryor should see a lot of action in this game against his former team, so expect him to be motivated. This could be a dress rehearsal for him for other teams, as the Seahawks may not have room to keep him on their roster. Expect fireworks.
