10 Denver Broncos Players Who Won’t Make Final Cuts

10 Denver Broncos Who Won't Make Final Cuts

The Denver Broncos are entering their last preseason game on Thursday when they take on the Dallas Cowboys. After that game, the team will have until Aug. 30 to trim the roster down to 53 players who will represent Broncos Country for the 2014 season. This could be the last chance for some players to prove that they deserve a spot on the roster.

Here are 10 players who I believe the Broncos will cut to make 53 players.

A UDFA out of Michigan State, Fowler will ultimately fall victim to a loaded roster of wide outs. He has had some good moments in preseason, but it ultimately will not be enough. However, with the injury to Wes Welker I would not be surprised if the Broncos sign him on the practice squad.

The Broncos sixth-round draft choice has not done a whole lot to impress. It also doesn't help when you are backup to veterans Manny Ramirez and Will Montgomery. This is a draft pick that just never impressed and I don't think he will suit up in orange and blue after Saturday.

8. Tony Carter

While he impressed a few with his performance in the second preseason game against the 49ers, there just seems to be too much for him to overcome. While he has been with the Broncos for a few years, his inability to cover without drawing a flag is something that cannot be overlooked.

7. Gerell Robinson

A wideout converted to a tight end, Gerell Robinson was hoping the transaction would help him make the roster. However, with the emergence of Julius Thomas and Virgil Green, he may not get a chance to show what he can do. I foresee him making the roster on the practice squad, but not on the final roster.

6. Sione Fua

Sione Fua was brought in to help after Kevin Vickerson went down with an injury. As of now, I have Vickerson making the final roster which puts Fua out of the job due to the depth. If Vickerson does end up not making the roster, Fua might have a chance, but I'm sure Kenny Anunike will have something to say about that.

5. John Boyett

John Boyett was signed last year from the Indianapolis Colts and was placed on the Broncos' practice squad. He currently is competing with Duke Ihenacho for a roster spot. With Boyett's recent legal troubles, plus his lack of impact in the preseason, I do not see Boyett returning for a second season.

While the Broncos just signed him during the offseason, the depth of the offensive line will be too much for Ryan Miller to overcome. He has not done a lot during training camp and preseason games to convince that he deserves a spot on the roster.

3. Shaquil Barrett

The Colorado State linebacker signed on with the Broncos as a UDFA. Before camps began, I gave Barrett a chance to make the roster. I still believe at some point he will make the roster, but for the time being I do not see him making the final roster. Look for the Broncos to sign him on the practice squad, however because they are always looking for pass rushers and letting Barrett go would be a mistake.

2. Kapri Bibbs

Another Coloado State UDFA, Kapri Bibbs was the fan favorite to make the roster. However, the emergence of Juwan Thompson will most likely prevent that from happening. His talent should, however force the Broncos to place him on the practice squad. He is a great player who has a lot of potential, as we saw during his one year in the NCAA. Look for his name to be heard in the near future.

With the window to the Super Bowl closing in on Peyton Manning, the Broncos want to surround him with as much talent as possible. Which means they might only keep two quarterbacks on the roster, making Dysert the odd man out. It is not set is stone yet, but if Dysert doesn't make the final roster, he most likely will be on the practice squad because of his potential. But for this article, I do not see him making the final roster.
