5 Position Battles to Watch for in Green Bay Packers Preseason Week 4

The fourth NFL preseason game is reserved for players to battle it out amongst each other. There are only so many roster spots left, which means the fourth game is the last opportunity for many players to leave a lasting mark on the coaching staff. With the Green Bay Packers’ roster being so deep, they have plenty of difficult cuts to make. Here’s a look at five positional battles to watch for in Green Bay’s Week 4 preseason game.

Jumal Rolle has been outstanding for the Packers in the preseason. Even though he has gone up against lesser competition, he has still stood out tremendously. Regrettably, there’s a lot of talent ahead of him on the depth chart. Davon House has had a great preseason as well, while Jarrett Bush has been a staple on special teams for years. Rolle will have to have the game of his life on Thursday if he wants to take one of their spots.

4. Jay Elliot vs. Carl Bradford vs. Nate Palmer

Outside linebacker Jay Elliot has been a pleasant surprise this preseason. He leads the team with four sacks and continues to pressure the quarterback. He’s everything the Packers want in a backup pass rusher. For that reason, I believe he makes the team. Not to mention, Carl Bradford has failed to show much in the preseason. Nate Palmer is a decent talent, but his fault against the run could be what ultimately hurts him.

3. Myles White vs. Kevin Dorsey vs. Jeff Janis

I believe the Packers will keep six wide receivers. If they only keep five, this competition is going to be even more intriguing in the final preseason game. Myles White has shown enough in camp where the Packers shouldn’t cut him. Plus, he’s a quality player on special teams. Jeff Janis is someone I believe Green Bay should take a chance on due to his potential. Kevin Dorsey is the odd man out, but that could change with a good performance.

2. Micah Hyde vs. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

When Ha Ha Clinton-Dix was drafted in the first round, many believed he would be the automatic starter at free safety. However, the versatile Micah Hyde has proven he can do it all in the secondary, including play a dominate safety. Clinton-Dix has made some great plays in the preseason, but Hyde has been the more consistent producer of the two. Clinton-Dix must prove that he deserves quality playing time by dominating the Chiefs.

1. Matt Flynn vs. Scott Tolzien

The most intriguing competition in Green Bay’s final preseason game is most definitely between quarterbacks Matt Flynn and Scott Tolizen. I believe the Packers will keep just two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, which means one of these two will be cut. Flynn is the proven veteran who has done right by Green Bay more times than one can count, but Tolzien is the younger talent with a solid arm.

Watch Fitzgerald Send Cardinals To NFC Title Game

I pronounce this the greatest game I've ever witnessed. There aren't enough words to describe the ebbs and flows that occurred during the fourth quarter of this NFC Divisional Playoff. Both teams should be proud of the way they played, but the Cardinals will be the ones moving on after this Larry Fitzgerald touchdown.

Watch Packers Complete Hail Mary As Time Expires

You have got to be kidding me! The Green Bay Packers sent the game to overtime with this insane Hail Mary completion. What are Patrick Peterson and Justin Bethel doing so deep in the end zone. This game has been absolutely insane.

Watch Cardinals' Palmer Throw Ugly Interception

For someone who played like a MVP all season long, Carson Palmer has looked anything but tonight against the Green Bay Packers. If he doesn't redeem himself in the fourth quarter, the No. 2 seed Arizona Cardinals will be sitting at home watching the playoffs with the rest of us next week.
