Heading into Thursday’s NFL preseason finale against the New York Jets, the Philadelphia Eagles have all of their starters as well their backup quarterback engraved in stone. However, there are still some questions that need to be answered in determining the final 53-man roster. With that in mind, here are five things to look for during tomorrow night’s game.
He has had a great camp and preseason, and part of that has to do with him playing against second-teamers. However, the entire second-team offensive line has been fantastic thus far, and Johnson is a big reason why. This will be his last moments with the team until Week 4 of the regular season. It would be a pleasure to see a nice lasting impression.
With Nate Allen unofficially winning the starting strong safety spot, Wolff better not have a letdown. He will still see a ton of snaps throughout the season, and that depth chart is not written in permanent ink.
He has been extremely quiet this preseason, and Thursday night will be Smith’s best opportunity to prove his worth. If he does not stand out, there is a good chance he will not be active on game days to begin the season.
Barkley definitely has the edge, but it is not by a wide margin. Kinne has the traits Chip Kelly wants in a quarterback, and if Barkley completely falters, Kinne could steal the third quarterback spot. With Mark Sanchez not playing, both of these guys will have a great opportunity to play for one spot.
Philadelphia’s place kicker may be the player who makes fans the most nervous out of everyone on the entire team. With Cody Parkley in town to challenge Henery, another mishap could prove to be the end of his tenure with the Eagles.
