New York Jets WR Stephen Hill Shouldn’t Make Final Roster Cut
Stephen Hill has had his fair share of obstacles, but it looks like his time is about to be up. The inconsistent wide receiver for the New York Jets has been given plenty of chances to prove his worth, but once again he has failed to deliver.
Throughout preseason as a whole, Hill has shown once again that he can’t make clutch receptions or even secure a roster spot considering his veteran status amongst rookies and journeymen. It seems dropped passes define him and prove he’s expendable after all.
Hill has been given plenty of reps with starting units, not only during training camp but also during preseason football, and failed to make anything come out of it. The Jets knew that there would be a possibility he could continue being unreliable, and they brought in a ton of insurance just in case. It looks like they were right in their prediction.
If the Jets are smart, they willcut him and allow another receiver to shine in the ground-and-pound offense. Since the Jets plan to run the football the majority of time on offense, they really shouldn’t waste their time in hoping that Hill develops into an efficient receiver over the season. It’s best to cut ties and simply move on towards better days.
Hill has nobody to blame but himself since it could very well be a mental issue that is preventing him from truly making a name for himself. Perhaps he can do better on a new team with a new offensive playbook, but as of right now he shouldn’t be a member of the Jets.
