The New Orleans Saints picked up some very exciting pieces in the 2014 NFL Draft, and a few of them were on full display this preseason. With the talent they added, the Saints have cemented themselves as Super Bowl contenders, especially if the rookies continue to play well in the regular season. With that said, here is a report card for every Saints draft pick after the preseason.
Brandin Cooks showed this preseason that he is going to be a special player in the NFL. With his speed and ability to gain separation and make plays, Cooks should be a monster for opposing defenses to handle.
Although he was slightly inconsistent, Stanley Jean-Baptiste showed off some coverage and playmaking talent this preseason. At 6-foot-3, Jean-Baptiste has tremendous size, and with more development, he could be a solid starter.
Khairi Fortt was only able to garner one tackle before an injury ended his preseason. The Saints must hope he can bounce back.
Vinnie Sunseri was all over the field this preseason, racking up 23 tackles in the process. Sunseri showed the talent needed to one day be a starter, and he preseason performance was certainly encouraging.
Ronald Powell looked good this preseason, and that’s a very good thing considering the Saints lack of depth among the linebacking core. Powell could really make an impact in a situational capacity.
Tavon Rooks was cut on Saturday. On a team without much depth along the offensive line, Rooks was a disappointment.
