QBs Under the Most Pressure in Week 1

Week 1 in the NFL brings new hope, a lot of excitement and a ton of pressure to produce right away. Most of the pressure falls on the quarterback and it's up to them to lead their team to victory and start the 2014 regular season on a high note. What quarterbacks have the most pressure in Week 1? Well, check out my top five with the most to prove.

Smith got a pass for his play during his rookie season, but now there are no more excuses. I mentioned pressure before, but playing in the New York area adds a great deal of pressure and the need to win now. Smith has new weapons, ample time to learn and now it's up to him to make it all work. A big win in Week 1 against the Oakland Raiders would be a good start for Smith and the Jets.

Manning, like Geno Smith, knows what it's like playing for a team that is prefixed by New York in the title. For Manning, he's proven to be a Super Bowl quarterback and has some rings to his name, but last year he did not play up to par. Now Manning has a banged up offensive line and somehow, someway, he must make it work. If Manning doesn't play well early on in the season, expect a lot of fans chirping for rookie QB Ryan Nassib.

3. Brian Hoyer

Hey, Hoyer, good job winning the starting quarterback job for the Cleveland Browns, but good luck not looking over your shoulder. Johnny Manziel is waiting in the wings and if Hoyer struggles in Week 1, the media will ask the inevitable question, when will Manziel get his chance? Hoyer doesn't have a lot of weapons to help him out, so there's a lot of pressure on him to make something out of nothing with this Browns offense.

2. Tony Romo

2. Tony Romo

Unluckily for Romo, Dallas is one of the most criticized franchises in the NFL, so if the team doesn't get off to a fast start in 2014, guess who the finger is going to be pointed at? Don't get me wrong, Romo had a great season in 2013 with 31 TDs and 10 INTs, but as long as that star is on the side of his helmet, expectations are sky high. Another bad season spells trouble for Romo, so he better start off the season with a Week 1 win.

RG3 knows the pressure that he is under and takes it all with a grain of salt. The Redskins have a new head coach, Jay Gruden, and a new wide out, Desean Jackson, who are sure to help RG3 along with his progression. The talent is there, but Griffin's problem is his inability to stay on the field. The Redskins match up against the Texans and then the Jaguars in their first two weeks of the season, so both of those games should be a win.
