The San Francisco 49ers weren’t the most impressive team ever in the preseason. Good thing success isn’t measured by how well a team does in the preseason. The 49ers have made the conference championship three years in a row, and you better believe they will have the talent to do so again in 2014-15.
Something has to give for the Dallas Cowboys. Hopefully that something is Tony Romo having a flawless season, and the rest of the team following his lead. Unfortunately, I don’t picture it to play out that way.
For the purposes of this game, the Cowboys will have their hands full. For one, San Francisco has a solid defense. For two, San Francisco has a solid offense. We haven’t even gotten into the fact that Dallas finished with an 8-8 record last season.
With such a bad defense expected in Dallas, QB Colin Kaepernick could look like a genius out on the football field on Sunday. On paper, this one looks like a blowout; however, I am giving Dallas’ offense the benefit of the doubt and predicting it to keep up with the 49ers … for a little while.
For that to happen, Romo, RB DeMarco Murray and WR Dez Bryant all have to bring their A game. However, good luck stopping the 49ers’ running attack, a unit that averaged 137.6 yards per game in 2013.
Unfortunately for Dallas, it just isn’t that good on paper, and could find itself struggling for a good portion of 2014.
PREDICTION: 49ers 42, Cowboys 24
