We’re a couple of days away from the start of the 2014 NFL Season, and with it come new hopes and dreams that maybe, just maybe, this is the year that our favorite team takes that next step.

Unfortunately for me, I’m a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and I’ve been waiting for that next step for a long time; however, not all is gloom and doom.

I’ll explain in these 10 bold predictions for the Dallas Cowboys’ 2014 season.

Tony Romo, QB, Dallas Cowboys

I predict that the Cowboys will beat the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, and get the season off on the right foot. Tony Romo is undefeated against the 49ers, and I don’t see that changing on Sunday.

Jason Witten, TE, Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys nearly swept the NFC East last season with one of the worst defenses that the NFL has ever seen. I predict that in 2014, the Cowboys will sweep the NFC East.

Kyle Wilber, LB, Dallas Cowboys

In 2013 the Cowboys’ defense was one of the worst units to ever take the field; however, under Rod Marinelli, I predict that will change. In fact, I think that they will be near the middle of the pack, which should improve the team’s overall record from a season ago.

DeMarco Murray, RB, Dallas Cowboys

I predict that DeMarco Murray will be among the NFL’s elite at running back! I say that because for the first time in a long time, I truly think that they will actually commit to the run game.

Gavin Escobar, TE, Dallas Cowboys

I predict that this is the year that Jason Witten passes the torch to Gavin Escobar. The Cowboys will find a way to get Escobar the ball, even if it means that they gradually phase Witten out.

Dez Bryant, WR, Dallas Cowboys

I predict that Dez Bryant will have an All-Pro season at wide receiver. The kid’s just a freak of nature, and if watching him in practice and preseason are a sign of things to come, all of Cowboys Nation should be really excited about 2014.

Tyler Patmon, CB, Dallas Cowboys

I predict that Tyler Patmon will be a household name by the time the season is over. The Cowboys secondary need all the help they can get, and I think that Patmon will answer that call.

Josh Brent, DT, Dallas Cowboys

I predict that Josh Brent will be in pads by Week 5. He appealed his 10-game suspension, and I think that he will win. He’s already been out of football for a long time, and I think that he’s paid his dues. It’s time to move on.

Michael Sam, DE, Dallas Cowboys

I predict that the Cowboys will be calling Michael Sam up from the practice squad a lot sooner than people think. In fact, I say that by Week 2, Sam will be on the 53-man roster; oh yeah, one other thing, he’ll lead the team in sacks.

Dion Jordan, LB/DE, Miami Dolphins

Given their desperate need for pass-rushers, I predict that the Cowboys will pull off a trade for Dion Jordan, who, I think, is being misused as a 3-4 outside linebacker by the Miami Dolphins.
