Colts vs. Broncos: Top 5 Matchups To Watch in Week 1

Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos

This is the matchup everyone is going to be waiting for on Sunday. This matchup features two explosive offenses with a lot of power on defense. This is going to be a shootout that probably features a game-winning score in the final two minutes. This game features two small time quarterbacks you probably never heard of named Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck.

The Denver Broncos chose to upgrade their pass rush when they added Ware in free agency. This is going to be a big matchup, because the rest of the Indianapolis Colts' offensive line is going to need help throughout the game. This is going to leave Castonzo on an island, and it’s going to be his job to keep Andrew Luck upright.

4. Jerrell Freeman vs. Julius Thomas

With Wes Welker suspended for the game on Sunday, Peyton Manning is going to have to use Thomas in order to attack the middle of the field. The Colts could match Freeman on Thomas because of his ability to play well in space and use D’Qwell Jackson as their main run support. Manning loves to use his tight ends -- especially in the red zone -- so this could be a key matchup.

3. Vontae Davis vs. Demaryius Thomas

Last year Davis played his best game of the season against Thomas and he shut down the receiver. That was a big part of the win the Colts had last year. This year without Eric Decker and now Wes Welker, Thomas is going to be depended on even more. If Davis can match the level of play from last year then the Colts have a chance to win.

2. Aqib Talib vs. T.Y. Hilton

Hilton is the Colts' No. receiver and he has shown the ability to move around all over the field. It is going to be interesting to see if Talib shadows Hilton all game or if he sticks to the outside. Talib can be very physical with receivers, and that can cause problems with Hilton. But all it takes it one play for Hilton to make an impact.

This is the matchup everyone wants to see, and this is the reason why the NFL chose this game to open their prime time schedule. Both quarterbacks have a lot of weapons, and this game is going to be a shootout. Last year both offenses scored a lot, and this year shouldn’t be any different. I think whichever one of these guys has the ball last will win the game for their team.
