Jay Cutler Takes Brutal Roughing the Passer Hit From Quinton Dial

When the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers meet up for a primetime showdown, you know there are going to be some big hits. We don’t think Jay Cutler was prepared to take a helmet straight to the sternum, though.

Late in the second quarter, with his offense driving, Cutler chucked the ball downfield with the San Francisco defense bearing down on him. Quinton Dial unloaded as Cutler released the ball, planting the quarterback with a ferocious hit. Cutler was visibly shaken by the hit, which drew a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty.

Although it seemed like the hit would knock Cutler out of the game, he tossed a touchdown pass to Brandon Marshall three plays later to cut the 49ers’ lead to 10. The Bears head into halftime down 17-7.
