Sometimes in life, adrenaline gets the best of you to the point where you’re not thinking straight in celebration.

Detroit Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch was beyond words ecstatic when he was able to sack Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in Week 3 action. Tulloch wanted to imitate his famous taunt move, the “Discount Double-Check” to the masses but fell short. Unfortunately, he went down in agonizing pain after he performed it.

In what will go down as one of the weirdest injuries this season, Tulloch tore his ACL during this celebration. He tried to come back into the game the following series but only lasted one play after falling down to the ground. It was at this time he knew something serious was wrong with him.

Quoted as saying he wasn’t embarrassed by how this injury occurred, Tulloch was in good spirits after the game, saying how everyone celebrates when they make a big play. He’s a seasoned veteran who has seen it all so far in his career but will now head to the injured reserve list, effectively ending his season.

Perhaps this could all be chalked up as a lesson learned. Maybe it was karma that got him for making fun of one of the best quarterbacks playing today or just a freak accident. Either way, Tulloch will be headed to surgery soon and will begin his rehab to be ready for a full return come next season.

In the end, it’s best to remember that, in the heat of the moment, adrenaline can make you say and do things you might not do normally on your own. For Tulloch, he will forever now think twice before celebrating whenever he makes a big play.
