St. Louis Rams In Trouble After 1-2 Start

The St. Louis Rams kicked off their season opener at home against the Minnesota Vikings and found themselves at the wrong end of a 34-6 blowout. After barely edging the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a two-point margin in Week 2. the Rams returned home only to be gunned down by a subpar and inconsistent Dallas Cowboys squad.

Some fans down in St. Louis may choose to disregard it, but the Rams are in trouble. The team is 1-2 in 2014 against iffy teams, and while there was plenty of promise with fifth-year quarterback Sam Bradford under center prior to the season, the man will miss the rest of the season with the torn ACL.

This isn’t looking good, and it doesn’t project to get much better. The Rams enter their bye week in the basement of NFC West with the San Francisco 49ers at 1-2, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they lose nine of its next 13 regular season games. The Rams are on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles when they return from their bye week, and will then face the 49ers twice, the Seattle Seahawks twice, the Kansas City Chiefs once, the Arizona Cardinals twice and hosts a very scary and hungry Denver Broncos squad later in the season.

The Rams have lost quality leadership under center, they don’t have much depth at any position, and their remaining regular season schedule, while not necessarily an impossible one, doesn’t exactly flash much promise. It’s going to be a long autumn for the gridiron gang from Missouri.
