How have the New York Jets done in the first quarter of the NFL season? Not so great considering their 1-3 start. Things seem to get worse on a weekly basis as they are at the bottom of the AFC East. Here is the Jets' 2014 first quarter report card.

The Jets can't seem to put points on the board and look confused when they get anywhere near the red zone. Their advertised ground-and-pound offense has been missing as the Jets have transformed into a one-dimensional passing team. Quarterback Geno Smith already has five interceptions in the first quarter of the season.

The Jets' front seven continue to do well against the run. When it comes to the secondary, however, teams are easily dissecting it like no tomorrow. With the inability to stop most aerial attacks, the Jets have major issues at cornerback as injuries have been piling up.

How could anyone forget the timeout debacle against the Green Bay Packers? Head coach Rex Ryan is on the hot seat as things are spiraling downward. He's losing control of his team. Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg also hasn't committed to running the football like he proclaimed all offseason long. There seems to be a major lack of communication and consistency from the coaching staff.

When it comes to special teams, the Jets also have a handful of problems. They recently released return specialist Jalen Saunders and haven't really found an established player to give them better field positioning on kickoffs and punts. Throughout the first quarter of the season, the Jets' special teams unit has shown a knack for dropping punts and kickoffs, even coughing up fumbles because the players didn't go for the fair catch.

So far, the athletes who the Jets drafted in the 2014 NFL Draft have been either released been relatively quiet. First-round draft pick Calvin Pryor had a reputation for being a heavy hitter and difference-maker, and he's been anything but that. Tight end Jace Amaro has had too many dropped passes, and he's still getting adjusted to the NFL.
