TV Schedule: Sunday, Oct. 5, 1:00 p.m. ET, FOX
Stadium: Mercedes-Benz Superdome
Line: New Orleans (-10)
We all knew the New Orleans Saints weren’t the best road team in the NFL, but this is just getting ridiculous. The Saints were taken down by the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4 by 21 points. That marked New Orleans’ third loss on the season and, you guessed it, third road loss as well.
As for Tampa Bay, it managed to win its first game of 2014 in upset fashion. Not many people gave the Buccaneers a chance to take down the Pittsburgh Steelers, myself included, but they did just that.
Although Tampa Bay is coming off of a win, and New Orleans is not, I have to go with the Saints. They simply do not lose at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. They just don’t.
With that said, New Orleans does not look like a Super Bowl contender right now. Heck, it doesn’t even look like a playoff contender.
After losing three of their first four games of the season, the Saints could definitely use a bye week, which will come in Week 6. Beating Tampa Bay and then entering that bye week would be a great accomplishment, though.
No matter what happens in this contest, one thing is for sure. One of these teams will all but be eliminated from the playoffs after this week. A 1-4 start is very hard to rebound from. As it stands, no team in the NFC South is really taking the conference by storm, but a 1-4 start would surely spell doom.
PREDICTION: Buccaneers 16, Saints 28
