Green Bay Packers: First Quarter Grades For Every 2014 Draft Selection

The Green Bay Packers aren't typically active in free agency, so that makes the NFL Draft immensely important for the team every year. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix was the highlight of the draft, but there are a couple of other picks who have had an impact on the Packers through the first four weeks of the season. Here are the first quarter grades for each Packers draft pick.

By drafting Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in the first round in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers finally have a competent partner in the safety position beside Morgan Burnett. Clinton-Dix has gotten better with every game, but he still needs to do a better job in run support and tackling. If he cleans those areas up, he could be a special player.

Round 2: Davante Adams

He's played well in spurts this season, and after the Week 2 matchup against the New York Jets, I thought he was going to replace Jarrett Boykin as the No. 3 receiver. He didn't, but expect Adams to become much more involved in the following weeks. He needs to continue to work on his rapport with Aaron Rodgers because he needs to earn his quarterback's trust.

Round 3: Khyri Thornton and Richard Rodgers

Khyri Thornton has been a serious disappointment for the Packers this season. He can't even see the field, and that is saying a lot considering the Packers defensive line has been rather unimpressive this year. Richard Rodgers, on the other hand, has shown signs of being a successful NFL tight end, but he still has plenty of work to do. He could be a great receiver, but he is an awful blocker.

Round 4: Carl Bradford

I admit that I had high hopes for Carl Bradford this season, but he hasn't seen any playing time this season. That may have something to do with the fact that the Packers just don't know where to play him. He was drafted as an outside linebacker with the intentions of moving him inside. Neither position has worked.

Fifth-round pick, Corey Linsley has been a pleasant surprise for Green Bay. holding his own at the center position. He was thrust into a difficult position with the J.C. Tretter injury, but he has played well for a rookie. The other rookies, Demetri Goodson and Jeff Janis haven't had the chance to see the field this year, and with that, I would give both draft picks an incomplete.
