In Week 5, an intriguing matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts will have two AFC playoff hopefuls squaring off. The Ravens have gotten off to a nice 3-1 start with their only loss coming in Week 1 to the Cincinnati Bengals, but since then have had won three straight games, two of which coming against divisional opponents.
For the Ravens this season, much of their success has come because their quarterback Joe Flacco is having a very good season thus far. In four games, Flacco has seven touchdown passes to just two interceptions with 1,055 passing yards. The offseason signing of Steve Smith from the Carolina Panthers has seemed to help Flacco out immensely as Smith has been a reliable target in important situations, and the two have built what looks to be great chemistry very quickly.
Against Smith’s former team, the Ravens were able to blow out the Panthers while Flacco had his best game of the season, throwing for 327 yards with three touchdown passes.
Indianapolis’ defense has not been very good this season with due to injuries, but their offense is one of the best in the NFL with quarterback Andrew Luck putting up monster stats in the past few weeks. The Colts are currently averaging 34 points per game, which is the best in the NFL.
In order to keep up with Luck and the Colts’ offense and pull off an upset on the road, Flacco will need to be the X-factor and lead his team with a strong game.
