The Washington Redskins are calling it now in order to ensure no one will be surprised when it happens. Whether it is simply talk in the media or a legitimate possibility, the Redskins are confident they will defeat the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night.

“Can we beat them? Yeah,” offensive tackle Trent Williams said, according to CBS Sports. “At the end of the day, they’re not robots. They’re human beings and nobody’s perfect. Nobody plays perfect every Sunday. They have been beaten before. It’s not like they’re unstoppable. They’re a great team, no doubt about it, but anything is possible in the NFL.”

Williams is correct in that anyone can beat anyone on any given Sunday. The numbers do not lie for Washington, which certainly backs up Williams’ claim. Despite getting absolutely destroyed by the New York Giants last Thursday, the Redskins have put up outstanding numbers across the board.

More specifically, Washington’s pass offense could be lethal enough to take on a Seattle secondary that has not played up to its ability this season. The Redskins rank fourth in the NFL in yards per game (292.3). Not to mention, their 23.8 points per game is not too bad either. Plus, Cousins’ six touchdown passes in three contests is very impressive.

With that said, if Washington is unable to overcome their nasty habit of turning the ball over, they will fall victim to a team that thrives off the turnover. Seattle will make what happened to New York look like a walk in the park if Washington is unable to hold onto the ball. That means a minus-five turnover differential must be an issue of the past for the Redskins.

Is it possible Washington will defeat Seattle?

If the Redskins give the same effort against the Seahawks as they did against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3, there is no reason to believe why they could not emerge victorious. A big factor will be the energy at FedEx Field. The Washington fans must be loud and proud. That should allow the players to feed off the energy and make the upset a real possibility.

Of course, it is not just what the fans must do. The players must use the loss against the Giants as motivation. The players also must remember that they are a good football team on both sides of the ball. Their 1-3 record does not display the talent on the roster. A win against the mighty Seahawks will prove that, which could have a positive domino effect going forward.
