Chicago Bears Fumble Game Away

The Chicago Bears let a game that they could have won slip away. After being up 21-7 early, it’s games like these that must be won.

With just over four minutes left in the game, the Bears had the ball with the game on the line. Matt Forte fumbled the ball, which led to the game-winning score for the Carolina Panthers. It is hard to put the blame on Forte as he had 166 total yards and a touchdown prior to that.

The fact of the matter is, the Bears should have won this game. If your quarterback goes 28-36, you will win most of the time. Jay Cutler, again, threw two interceptions. The first one was thrown to Brandon Marshall in triple coverage near the red zone. The other one was overthrown in the fourth quarter. These were inopportune times to give the Panthers life.

The defense continued to struggle, once again. Big pockets down field were left wide open once Cam Newton was given time to survey the field. The pass rush was big early on. It was when they were unable to pressure Newton that the Panthers were able to move the ball relatively easily.

Props must be given to the Panthers. Newton received the pass protection he needed to comeback and win the game. Greg Olsen also had a big game, scoring two touchdowns on 72 yards receiving on his former team — this after overcoming a minor ankle injury.

The Bears await a Week 6 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome. Both teams will meat with a record of 2-3.
