Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant Saves Tony Romo with Play of the Year

Just as it looked like the Dallas Cowboys had choked away another winnable game, Dez Bryant flew through the air and showed why some regard him as the best wide receiver in the game. Count me among the supporters of Calvin Johnson‘s camp in that conversation, but as Megatron has been battling injuries, the nod might have to go to Bryant this week.

You can bet Tony Romo is in Dez’s camp after under-throwing a ball in overtime against the Houston Texans which easily should have been intercepted; however, his star receiver made a bobbling catch that could go down as the best play this season. It is hard to imagine anyone topping it given what was at stake, especially for Romo. The 37-yard catch set up a game-winning field goal by Dan Bailey and caused pandemonium in Texas.

Bryant saved his quarterback from a full week of all the pundits yelling about how the Cowboys will never get over the 8-8 record hump until they get a new QB, and sent his team to their fourth straight victory. It is worth mentioning that in 2008, the Cowboys started out 4-1, but then somehow found a way to miss the playoffs anyway. It does not look like that will happen this season in a truly pathetic NFC East, but we have definitely seen stranger things happen to Romo and company.

On a positive note, the Cowboys were able to contain J.J. Watt, and any team that can manage that will have a chance to win football games. One thing is certain: it is pretty good to be Jerry Jones this week.
